PART 2: MEZCLA 26TH OF MAY, 2007: NEW AND IMPROVED

It's a big one this time...

One of Sweden's most interesting and energetic live electro-groups will enter the quite risky Mezcla-stage on the 26th of may, 2007. After hosting a handful of crazy houseparties in their hometown of Lund (the floor was actually ready to break due to the massive amount of dance), appearing on such highly respected venues such as Klubb Neat and Grodan Coctail Club in Stockholm and Kontra Musik in Malmö, we felt it was time to introduce SÖLLSCHER UND SIECH to the city of Göteborg. Expect freaky live acid-techno/electro, one hell of a dancefloor experience:

Söllscher und Siech, aka "The self appointed Scania acid-wonder" has taken Swedish clubs by storm in 2006 (Grodan, F12 Terassen, Inkonst etc.). Patrick Siech and Gustav Söllscher have been producing music together since 2004, and are a part of the Bevlar crew which quickly has grown to Swedens largest internet based record label. With totally unreleased material, their acid liveset is produced strictly for the dancefloor, and is guaranteed to make you jack!

As DJs we present the highly gifted ADAM CRAFT from Stockholm, soon to be releasing stuff on infamous STHLM LTD, and his buddy MICKE K, of the sweet store FADE RECORDS. These two guarantees you one hell of a night and are supposedly bringing some friends with them from Stockholm aswell, all meeting up behind the decks for that hypnotical fun minimal stuff we all love. And since MEZCLA are so DJ friendly, we decided to throw in another one (DJ, that is). Kicking off before the two DJ:s above is THE EYE's co-founder CAZUMA. Most of you probably watch him twist the Nefertiti-crowd every friday alongside of resident NIBC so an introduction is probably not necessary. Nevertheless, it will be nice seeing him play an whole set in another environment than Nefertiti. Also, as residents: KRUTE, PER & JACQUESOBSKIJ.

MEZCLA FILMFESTIVAL: As for our pre-party, which we are very enthusiastic about, we have ordered a few films from a set of highly creative and competent directors at the legendary Polish Filmschool in Lodz. These shortfilms will be played at 9PM - 11PM, turning our whole MEZCLA premise into a romantique cinema. Popcorn on the house! The films that we will show are:

"Melodramat" (fiction). Directed by: Filip Marczewski
"Miasto Ucieczki" (fiction). Directed by: Wojciech Kasperski
"Radek" (documentary). Directed by: Magnus von Horn
"13 lat i 10 miesicy" (documentary). Directed by: Jenifer Malmqvist
"Porno" (fiction). Directed by: Jan Wagner

And like this isn't enough. To kick off the musical aspect of MEZCLA, we have invited the very talented MINXY SOUL MODELS to play their highly infectous pop. We do like this group. Apperantly they do not play live that often which we find odd, they do indeed struck a nerve inside of us. I highly suggest you check out their site below; not only are their songs of great caliber, their videos are quite delicate aswell.

So, see you in a bit. We can't wait for the 26th! Don't forget to get your tickets this time! 80kr @ Nostalgi (available from monday!).

Love from Mezcla

When the fog cleared, what happened?

Even though some of us at MEZCLA lost our minds during the premiere, we feel that the premiere could not have gone better. Now, you might disagree, considering the minor (?) fog incident and the sporadical breakdown of the speakers. Obviously, we could have lived without these two fuck-ups. Yet, as the title suggest, when the fog cleared we all seemed to be pretty happy about it. It was an unconventional pattern, as Kiran pointed out, making everybody dig it since it pretty much wouldn't fall into your ordinary clubnight. However, we guarantee as much as humanly possible that these incidents wont happen during any of our forthcoming nights.

Nevertheless, apologies goes out to both TENNISHERO and TAPE for these incidents. These guys did an amazing job considering the situation and I can't thank them enough for what they did. An extra big thank you goes out to Puffin Jack, Richard Carnage and Mr. Soft (or Dr. Love, was it?) for remaining calm during the fog-incident and managed to play some really amazing tunes even though the awful sound and the skipping needles. I really do hope we can manage to bring TAPE over here again.

For pictures, check these blogs out:

So, thank you to everybody who contributed in one way or another. We love you all! We will be back soon with updates regarding forthcoming nights. It looks as if next night will be as splendid as the premiere! Apart from the fog-stuff ofcourse.

THREE DAYS LEFT: random updates and ramblings

Just returned from some work down at our venue and everything is starting to look very nice indeed. Some secret guests and happenings have been added to the premiere and I'm really proud of what we've all pulled off so far. Still, alot more is to be done so these few days before the kick-off will be quite hectic but, nevertheless, interesting. So, since the premiere is no later than on saturday, I figured that now is a good time to reveal our Mezcla-hidingplace. Yeah, like you didn't know. Various clubguides has already revealed our little secret. However, if you don't know, the club is located at Lyckholms Bryggerier. If you need directions I highly suggest Djungeltrummans:

Ta 4:ans spårvagn mot Mölndal så ser du en stor tegelkloss på vänster sida efter en stund. Där ska du av om du vill härja hela natten på diverse klubbar och spelningar som dyker upp titt som tätt.

In other words, somewhere in Mölndal on the left side in a huge tegelkloss. The picture below is a tegelkloss (according to the always reliable people of Google). Looks about right. If you need more direct directions than that, I suggest you e-mail us: clubmezcla@hotmail.com. Our incompetent employees might help you out.

I'm really looking forward seeing both Tennishero and TAPE live. The Tennisplayers told me that their live-set consists of a collection of reworks of their own stuff, 80's disco, The Beach Boys, minimal bangers and drummachines. If these guys wont get you off your feet than I don't know who will. TAPE maybe? I surely think so. I doubt there's any other group of people out there as intuned with todays' dancemusic as these guys are.

That's all for tonight. More updates and ignorant ramblings tomorrow.

Mezcla exclusive mix: RICHARD CARNAGE - PRESIDENT OF HOUSE

We found it suitable to start off things here by giving people a hint of whats to come, musical wise, on the premiere on saturday. Our good friend Richard Carnage of TAPE was kind enough to send us a mix he just recently finished. He told me that he originally whipped it up for an Irish radio station but the station is yet to upload it on their site, so we figured we might as well put it here. More good stuff for us! I'm really enjoying this mix, Richard has indeed put together a solid set of tunes ranging from the dirtier side of disco to the more raw edged minimal tech. Here's what the man himself has to say regarding the mix:

I wanted to do something a little bit different to the other mixes whilst still keeping the style fairly coherent, so this is what I came up with. There's an exclusive Carl Craig mix of Junior Boys on there, and also an unreleased Mock'n'Toof track, not sure if that's even going to come out. So hopefully even the heads will have some new stuff to listen to in there.

1) LFO - Tied Up (Spiritualized Electric Mainline Remix) // Warp
2) Force Of Nature - Sequencer (Rekid Remix) // Mule Musiq
3) Lexx - Slow Burning (Mudd Remix) // Bearfunk
4) Lindstrom - Monsteer // Dialect
5) Mock'n'Toof - Suck // CD-R
6) Vincent Markowski - The Madness Of Moths // DC
7) Junior Boys - Like A Child (Carl Craig Remix) // Domino
8) Ink & Needle - Two // Tattoo
9) Hearthrob - Golum // M_nus
10) Emptyset - Acuphase // Future Days
11) Efdemin - Just A Track // Dial
12) Akabu - I'm Not Afraid Of The Future (Joey Negro Medusa Mix) // Z
13) Ferrer & Sydenham Inc - Timbuktu (Sydenham And Faber Vibe Out Mix) // Ibadan
14) Throbbing Gristle - Hot On The Heels Of Love (Ratcliffe Remix) // Novamute
15) Partial Arts - Trauermusik // Kompakt

We hope to publish more exclusive mixes in the future, piled together by various DJ:s and friends. But for now, stay prepared for the all-nighter on saturday by clicking below:
